KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A nine-month-old girl with a rare, life-threatening liver disease has a new liver.
FOX4 first reported Olivia Dildine’s journey to find a new one last month.
Olivia Dildine is just nine months old, and last week, she received a new liver. Now, she’s recovering here at Children's Mercy.
“It gave me a sense of relief," her mom, Ciera Chronister, said.
"Everything we fought through and everything she's been through, and just a huge procedure was worth it."
At just three weeks old, Olivia was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare and life-threatening liver disease.
Mom Ciera Chronister said this new liver means a new beginning for her now nine-month-old. She said the five-hour liver transplant procedure was a success.
