Former quarterback Derek Carr is returning to football in a new role.

Carr will be a studio analyst for YouTube’s broadcast of the Chiefs vs. Chargers game in Brazil on Sept. 5.

Carr will be based in California, not Sao Paulo, where the game will be played. He will be joined by former Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu.

Rich Eisen will be on play-by-play with Kurt Warner in an analyst role.

Carr, 34, retired from the NFL in May because of a shoulder injury that would have required surgery . The news came as a surprise, as the 11-year veteran gave up $30 million . Clearly, he did not want to sit out the season and go through an arduous rehab process.

Carr spent nine years with the Raiders and two with the Saints.
