LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Clark County approved funding for a supplemental animal shelter, according to documents obtained by FOX5.
Overcrowding has been a critical issue for the Animal Foundation for years. Clark County documents say funding will go toward the design and construction of expanded animal shelter facilities. The project site is said to span seven to eight acres with the new shelter covering around 40,000 square-feet.

The county says it is also allocating $3 million toward creating a temporary shelter facilities for emergencies which they say would include overcrowding. Funding will also go toward lifesaving services at the Animal Foundation.
