BOONEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — After a fire on Aug. 19 that burned down Pizza Italia in Booneville, community members and local businesses have offered support to the business owners.

Pizza Italia is a family business owned by Kari and Jacob Carey, who opened the restaurant in 2012. On Aug. 19, the fire started while the Careys and two staff members were working at the restaurant.

"We just came in and I started my usual day," said Jacob Carey. "I was in the back and then Kari said, 'Hey, there's smoke. I see smoke.'"

The Careys and their staff members evacuated from the building, stating that the smoke was coming from the dining room.
