MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Entering his third season in the National Football League, Martinsburg High School and Shepherd University graduate Tyson Bagent has become one of the league’s highest-paid backup quarterbacks.

On Wednesday, Bagent and the Chicago Bears agreed on a two-year contract extension, which will keep him in the Windy City through the 2027 season. Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, multiple published reports indicate that the deal will pay Bagent a total of $10 million over two years.

Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk reports that Bagent’s contract puts him behind only Anthony Richardson, Marcus Mariota, Jacoby Brissett, Zach Wilson, Jarrett Stidham and Tyrod Taylor in average annual value among backup quarterbacks. Williams also reports that this contract extens
