ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- People who were enrolled as students at Ithaca College in the Spring semester of 2020 may receive money back from the school.
It's part of a class action settlement following a suit filed by a student, alleging breach of contract stemming from Ithaca's transition to remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020. The settlement is in the amount of $1.5 million.
Eligible students will receive a financial payment, along with an $800 tuition credit if they attend graduate school at Ithaca College, as well as a complimentary ticket to Alumni Weekend.
The terms of the settlement still need court approval. A hearing is scheduled for October 28 in Syracuse.
Affected students don't need to do anything to take part in the settlement; checks will be sent
