SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Spartanburg County government has fallen victim to another computer hack, marking the second such incident in two years.
The county disclosed that a limited number of personnel onboarding files, which included employee information, were accessed during the breach. While most of these files were part of the public record, some contained personal, identifiable information.
Eric Cole, founder and chief scientist of Secure Anchor Consulting, explained that hackers often exploit outdated servers or use phishing emails to gain access to systems.
