EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon lawmakers are raising alarms about the potential impact of the Trump administration’s recently approved Republican budget, which includes sweeping cuts to Medicaid.

Officials say the plan could push hundreds of thousands of residents off coverage and place an enormous strain on the state’s healthcare system. Senator Ron Wyden called the federal plan “destructive and despicable,” warning that the proposed defunding would jeopardize access to care for Oregon’s most vulnerable residents.

“The defunding of Medicaid that Donald Trump has engaged in is both destructive and despicable,” Wyden said.
