After the announcement of the "Cornhusker Clink," the president of Nebraska's union for corrections officers spoke with KETV on concerns about the state's prison capacity on Wednesday.
"We always make it work," said Jay Wilson, the head of Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge 88.
On Tuesday, the State of Nebraska announced plans for the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, in southwest Nebraska, to become an ICE detention center similar to Florida's "Alligator Alcatraz."
Some, like Nebraska state Sen. Dunixi Guereca, raised several concerns, including on the impact to the state's already overcrowded prisons.
The Nebraska Department of Correction reports that in Fiscal Year 2025, the average daily population of the state's correctional facilities has been at 115% of operational
