OMAHA, Neb. —

It's a solemn anniversary in the metro, Wednesday marks 30 years since Omaha police officer Jimmy Wilson Jr. was shot and killed in the line of duty.

The 24-year-old officer was found dead in his cruiser with his seatbelt still on after he had tried to perform a traffic stop in 1995.

Three decades after his death the department remembers the Westside High School and Creighton University graduate as a hero. He had served with OPD for just 16 months before his death.
