HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With the Atlantis Adventures’ Discovery shuttle boat now removed from Kewalo Basin, it’s time to see what was done to the reef.
The company said Wednesday the vessel is out of the water completely and undergoing a thorough inspection at Keehi Marine Center. The boat appears to be in good condition overall.
Discovery was moved off the reef Tuesday morning after a 10-day waiting game for better ocean conditions and the high tide.
“A lot of the challenges that we faced we saw in the last week. Changing environmental conditions, the structure and strength of the hull itself after taking a beating onto the reef,” said Lt. j.g. Max Van Rees, a marine inspector with U.S. Coast Guard Sector Honolulu.
