In the pouring rain, about 100 people stood with signs and umbrellas in response to immigration enforcement officers being in the city of Danbury.

“Danbury has become the epicenter of state terror," Juan Fonseca Tapia, with Greater Danbury Unites for Immigrants, said.

The group organized a press conference to denounce the ICE presence in their communities.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Wednesday it arrested 65 people from Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford from Aug. 12 to 15 in what it dubbed "Operation Broken Trust."

Of those arrested, 29 had been convicted or charged in the U.S. with crimes including kidnapping, assault, drug offenses, weapons violations and sex crimes.
