MEMPHIS, Tenn — Closing arguments began Wednesday in the trial of Hernandez Govan, who is accused of orchestrating the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph.
Govan faces charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Irris Williams started her closing argument by reminding the jury of the consequences of Govan's alleged actions, spotlighting Young Dolph's humanity and artistic spirit. She then played surveillance footage from Makeda's Cookies showing Dolph's murder once again. The rapper was shot and killed at the store on Nov. 17, 2021.
