CLEVELAND, Ohio - Officials have identified the Cleveland man who died after falling into Lake Erie over the weekend.

Jeffrey Williams, 64, was fishing on a pier near Edgewater Beach on Sunday night when officials said he fell off and hit his head.

Crews looked for Williams, but they temporarily suspended the search on Monday because water conditions were too dangerous for divers and too choppy to use sonar. The search resumed Tuesday.

That afternoon, Cleveland firefighters and Cleveland Metroparks police recovered Williams’ body at the Edgewater Public Boat Ramp on Whiskey Island, according to the office of the Cuyahoga County medical examiner.

Williams was one of three people who went missing in separate incidents on Lake Erie last weekend .
