NAGS HEAD, N.C. — Parts of the Outer Banks are getting hit with wind and waves Wednesday night as the effects of Hurricane Erin move closer to the coast.

Many families are here for vacation, but their eyes are now on Erin.

"The first four days were awesome weather, amazing," said tourist Mason Miller. "It was the calm before the storm type of deal." Now that storm is here, 10 On Your Side spent the day talking to people along Jennette's Pier in Nags Head. Locals tell us they are leaning on their past storm experience, but still preparing for the worst, just in case.
