BOISE, Idaho — The Jerome School District canceled classes Thursday, Aug. 21, and Friday, Aug. 22, due to "safety concerns" with its bus fleet, district officials announced.

The district said Wednesday evening it experienced problems with buses during afternoon routes and had identified "needed repairs and operational changes" before students can safely return to school.

"We are taking immediate steps to address these issues and are committed to performing at the level the Jerome community expects and deserves," the district said in a news release. "Your student's safety is our highest priority, and we are working tirelessly to resolve these matters."
