Morristown West volleyball showed some fight but was ultimately swept by Volunteer (25-9, 25-21, 25-20).

The loss was the Lady Trojans’ (1-1) first for the season, but it was a good learning experience for a team that has a lot of new faces in the lineup.

After taking a punch in the first set, West was able to have the second set tied at 21-21. The Lady Trojans took another hit and trailed 24-14 in the third set, but they were able to extend the match with a six-point run before eventually falling.

“I think we did have a lot of fight, especially in that third set,” West head coach Lindsey Barnett said. “I was really proud to see them fight those last few points, some strong serves to get us back in the game. We have a pretty young team right now, and we're working through a lot of injur
