A Muni Band story and thanks
Each summer we welcome new members to the Greater Waverly Municipal Band. My story is about two gentlemen joining us, for the first time, in late May. One young fellow, a percussionist, had just finished the sixth grade. We ask our percussion musicians to complete at least two years of organized instrumental music instruction. The other new member, a euphonium musician, admitted his age was in his early 70s. The player of this brass instrument had not picked up a horn since high school.
