MCCOOK, Neb. —
State senators who represent parts of the Metro reacted to the news of a new ICE detention facility coming to western Nebraska .
The announcement, made by the Department of Homeland Security and Governor Pillen on Tuesday, was new information to the state legislature.
State Sen. Margo Juarez stated her concern for the immigrant population in Omaha.
"The immigrants shouldn't be treated like this, and I feel like people can't believe the reality of what has come down," Juarez said. "I hope that it's not something for the long term because it's so wrong."
She said she is not done fighting against the facility.
