MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The Northwood community is mourning the sudden death of a firefighter.

Capt. Christopher Brown, 42, was taken to a local hospital Tuesday afternoon after participating in training with Northwood Fire Rescue on Monday.

On Wednesday, a procession was held as his body was transported from Portsmouth to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Concord.

In a statement, the Northwood Select Board said Brown's "countless contributions to our community will be greatly missed."

The cause of death has not yet been determined.
