LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- The husband of a woman who was found dead in the Angeles National Forest was briefly detained in Peru, but later released.
The woman, 33-year-old Sheylla Gutierrez, was reported missing Aug. 12. Her body was found in the forest days later.
Gutierrez's husband, 36-year-old Jossimar Cabrera, fled to Peru after her disappearance.
Cabrera landed at the airport in Lima, Peru last Saturday after flying in from Mexico.
He was questioned by Peruvian National Police before his wife's body was discovered and was released because no charges were filed against him in that country.
Authorities said he had three children, who he shared with Gutierrez, when he arrived. The children are now with Gutierrez's grandparents in Peru.
