Manchester Pride is taking place over August bank holiday weekend with colourful parties getting underway on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with some events on Monday too.

The festival has been running since 1985 when it began as grassroots bank holiday events supported by the local council, which later evolved into Mardi Gras and then rebranded as Manchester Pride.

It is a free to attend event and exists to celebrate LBGTQ+ people across Manchester.

The main event taking place this weekend is the Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday afternoon, kicking off at 12pm on Liverpool Road.
