Rockford has completed its first major roadway resurfacing project, according to a community announcement.
The newly resurfaced stretch of West Riverside Boulevard, between Central Avenue and Packard Parkway and Rockton Avenue to Latham Street, opened earlier this month. This section received nearly 500 pothole repair requests in 2024 alone, making it a high-priority area for improvement.
The remaining three resurfacing projects — Alpine, Mulford and Spring Creek roads — are underway and expected to be completed around Labor Day. These projects are expected to provide smoother, safer travel for the nearly 80,000 vehicles that use these four key corridors each day.
