WATERTOWN – After hearing from the public during a scheduled Public Hearing, the Town Council voted unanimously to approve two bond ordinances appropriating $34 million for a settlement with the City of Waterbury on water and sewer fees and $10 million for road improvement projects. A referendum vote on the matter will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The two ordinances will appear on the ballot as two separate questions, allowing voters to approve both, reject both, or vote for one and against the other.

At the start of the Public Hearing, Town Manager Mark Raimo explained the water and sewer issue is still costing the town $355,000 per month through the imposition of an 18% statutory interest and 8% post judgement interest. Approving the bond will immediately lower interest cost
