A Morris County man who allegedly engaged in a shootout with federal agents during a drug raid at his Parsippany home has been charged with attempted murder of a federal officer.

Maloy Amador, 43, allegedly opened fire from his basement when federal agents entered his home on Aug. 13 with a warrant to search for drugs.

Amador engaged in an “extended exchange of gunfire” and was hit in the arm before he eventually surrendered, according to a complaint filed by the office of U.S. Attorney and Special Attorney Alina Habba.

Amador has already served time in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, discharging a firearm during and relating to a crime of violence, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and
