PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Local officials strongly advise beachgoers to stay out of the water as some beaches have already closed in our area.

Closures include Second and Third Beaches in Middletown along with Easton’s Beach in Newport.

Officials in Westport, Mass. say you can still visit town beaches, but swimming is off limits.

Because of Hurricane Erin’s indirect impact on New England, the Point Judith and Newport high-speed ferries to Block Island will not run today.

A spokesperson for the company said more disruptions could be coming as the giant storm gets closer.

Customers are urged to check online for updates on their trips now through Friday.
