Emily Atack has come to embrace being typecast as sexy characters on screen. The Rivals actress acknowledged at this year's Edinburgh TV Festival that she has been boxed into a certain type of role for her entire career. Rather than trying to rebel against this image, Emily will happily continue playing sexy characters for as long as she's wanted for them. "I've been typecast my whole life, and I've loved every single minute of it. I will carry on playing sexy women for as long as they will have me," she said. The 35-year-old recently starred as Sarah Stratton in the raunchy drama Rivals, during which she often left little to the imagination. Emily noted that she wasn't put off by the sexual content and found it easy to play such a liberated character. "I just wasn't afraid to identify with her. I completely am her. I'm a very flawed woman. I've made terrible decisions in my love life," she shared. "I used all of that completely. It was completely genuine." In one memorable scene in the show, Emily's Sarah strips off to play tennis in the nude, and the former Inbetweeners star revealed that she got quite used to being naked on set and ran around the tennis court. "At first, it was really jarring seeing myself naked," she continued. "But then, sort of once I'd seen it, I was like, 'Oh fine.' I couldn't put my clothes back on. I was running around that tennis court. They were like: 'Emily, can you put your clothes on now?'" The actress noted that wearing a pubic wig, known as a merkin, helped with those scenes because she felt like she was wearing "big furry knickers". Emily is currently filming the second season of Rivals.
