SPRINGFIELD — With looming cuts on the way for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients, the Community Survival Center in Springfield is calling on the community to help stock its shelves.

“More families are going to find it hard to buy food for their families,” said Cristal Turcotte, executive director of the center, in an email to The Republican. “Families are going to have to find other ways and resources to provide food for their children if their SNAP benefits are cut.”

Executive orders from the Trump administration will cut about $186 billion from SNAP funding through 2034, according to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office.
