A skydiver who fell to her death from 15,500ft had split from her boyfriend just hours before the tragedy, an inquest has heard. ‌

Marketing manager Jade Damarell, 32, was an experienced parachutist with more than 400 jumps to her name. She died on April 27 after crashing onto farmland in Shotton Colliery, Co Durham, when neither her main parachute nor her reserve was deployed. ‌

The inquest at Crook heard Jade, who was born in Hong Kong but lived in Caerphilly, Wales, had carried out six successful skydives the day before. But on the morning of her death she made no attempt to activate her chute – and her automatic back-up safety device had not been switched on. ‌

Coroner Dr Leslie Hamilton ruled her death was suicide, offering condolences to her loved ones. The hearing was
