ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange-Osceola State Attorney Monique Worrell will hold a news conference Thursday morning to give updates on several matters, including the backlog of non-arrest cases which recently saw her scrutinized again by the state.
The event in Orlando is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
An audit has reportedly been completed and the office’s non-arrest case backlog has been reduced, according to a news release, adding trial stats, too, will be discussed Thursday.
Worrell is also expected to call for additional law-enforcement funding “to ensure continued public safety progress across the Ninth Judicial Circuit,” the release states.
Two years ago, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Worrell from office, accusing her of “ refusing to faithfully enforce the laws of Florida .“
