PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The start of Portland's week-long stretch of high heat gets underway on Thursday as temperatures bump towards the 90s.

The abundant sunshine and growing ridge of high pressure will help push the Portland area temperatures into the upper 80s to low 90s on Thursday afternoon. The temperature trend will remain hot through the weekend as Portland prepares for its first 100-degree temperatures of the year.

Much of the Willamette Valley and even the Portland/Vancouver metro area have already felt triple-digit heat earlier this month. However, Portland International Airport missed the century mark by one degree for three consecutive days last week.
