Hurricane Erin will not be making landfall on Maryland’s coastal areas, but parts of the state are expected to feel the impact of the storm.

In Ocean City, beaches are closed to swimmers.

Joseph Theobald, Ocean City Director of Emergency Services, says beachgoers need to stay out of the water.

“It’s not going to be a beach day,” Theobald said. “I know everyone wants to see it, but please stay out of the water.”

A wind advisory is in effect for the Maryland coastline. The region could feel gusty winds of up to 35 miles per hour, especially along the beaches and around the Chesapeake Bay.
