TAMPA, Fla. — Who knows what kind of career Yankees reliever Jonathan Loaisiga would have had if he wasn’t one of the most injury-prone pitchers of his era?

His fastball and stuff always have been elite during his eight big-league seasons, all of them as a Yankee since 2018, and it sure played in 2021. That’s the season that the Nicaraguan right-hander was one of the majors’ best setup relievers pitching to a 2.17 ERA over 57 outings, but even then he served two stints on the injured list.

No. 9 since 2019 was launched in early August when Loaisiga was shut down with middle back tightness while he was in the midst of a bad slump.

Loaisiga predicted that he’d be back within three weeks, and he was tracking for that just last Sunday when he pitched a scoreless outing in a Triple-A reha
