A man who drove on a walking trail at a Manitoulin Island park is charged with impaired.

Manitoulin OPP said officers were at Low Island Park in Little Current around 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 when they observed the vehicle on the footpath.

Police conducted a traffic stop, and further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

Robert Nahwegahbo, 45, from Calgary, was charged with impaired driving over 80 mg.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on Sept. 23.
