CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign Park District is looking for more information after they said two trees planted in the early 1970s at West Side Park were badly damaged.

The district found significant human-made damage to the trees that will result in them dying.

The damage to the trees will result in thousands of dollars in damages, as well as "an environmental impact due to the loss of two mature trees," the district said.

The damage was reported to the Champaign Police Department.

If you see any suspicious activity in Champaign parks, you are asked to call CPD at 217-333-8911.
