TAMPA, Fla. — It didn’t hurt the Yankees on Tuesday night when their bullpen was short one arm for the opener of their series with the Rays due to a late-afternoon decision to place left-hander Brent Headrick on the 15-day injured list with a forearm concussion.

Left-hander Carlos Rodon turned in a good start allowing one run over six innings, three Yankees homers in the first inning turned into a franchise-record tying nine for the game and a 13-3 pasting of the Rays.

A day later, the Yankees were back to a full roster for Wednesday’s series finale with right-hander Allan Winans called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to be a long relief option.
