A SICKNESS is causing spiders from around the globe to look straight out of a horror film.

A new fungus is taking over spider populations, those infected now being dubbed as zombie spiders.

The parasitic disease slowly eats away at their bodies until only a dry shelled corpse is left -- consuming them from the inside out.

Their bodies become completely covered in white, almost as if they were freezer burnt or taken over by mold.

But the spiders have another weird symptom of the fungus.

Alongside the physical changes, the cave spiders act differently - hence the zombie title.

The arachnids come out of hiding and into areas they would normally not be seen.

The zombie spiders were first found only 4 years ago during a filming of a BBC series named “Winterwatch."
