CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man faces charges of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with an alleged scheme involving explicit images of minors obtained through social media, according to a police affidavit.
Kent Matzinger was charged following a multi-agency investigation that began last September when Texas authorities arrested Jacob Day for allegedly creating fake social media profiles to solicit explicit content from juveniles.
Day allegedly told investigators he would then pose as a young female online, using the obtained content to solicit money, gift cards and gifts from adult males. Day specifically mentioned communicating with someone named "Kent" who had sent him substantial amounts of money through CashApp and gift cards, according to the affidavit.
