Aaron Rodgers will make rare Pittsburgh Steelers history by not playing in Thursday’s game against the Carolina Panthers .

Mike Tomlin has played his starting quarterback every single year as the Steelers’ head coach. If Rodgers does not play as planned, it will be the first time in twenty years the Steelers have not started their quarterback in at least one game.

Since Ben Roethlisberger was drafted in 2004, this is the first time a Steelers starting quarterback will not have at least played in one game since that moment.

Tomlin hinted it was very possible Rodgers only worked in the team’s joint practice against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not suit up for the preseason, and it seems that is exactly what is going to happen.
