Kirkland Lake Mayor Stacy Wight along with Coun. Rick Owen and C.A.O. Alan Smith have returned from the recently wrapped up Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa.

During the conference the local delegation met with the Hon. Kinga Surma, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure to discuss housing, infrastructure needs, flood mitigation, and the negative effects of climate change that is impacting Kirkland Lake.

However, after meeting with the minister, mayor Wight said “I am not very hopeful, in this case for assistance through the Ministry of Infrastructure (however) I am confident that the issues we went down to ask for assistance with, will of course, be managed within the community.
