EDGEWOOD, N.M. —
Police are investigating after a child was killed in an accident at a business in Edgewood.
According to Edgewood police, a two-year-old was run over by a vehicle at an auto parts store on State Highway 333 on Aug. 17.
Police say the car hit an uneven spot causing the passenger door to open. After the door opened, the two-year-old fell out of the vehicle and was then run over by the car.
Police say the driver left the parking lot with the child and drove to a different location and met with emergency crews. The two-year-old child was transported to UNM Hospital where they later died.
Police have not identified the child and charges have not been filed in the incident.
