Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker is back in the starting lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Tucker had been benched for the team’s last three games by manager Craig Counsell, as he remains mired in one of the worst slumps of his MLB career.
It was also reported by ESPN’s Jesse Rogers on Wednesday that Tucker had suffered a hairline fracture in his right hand while sliding into second base during a June 1 game, and had been playing through the injury.
The Cubs had said X-rays were initially negative, and Tucker was originally diagnosed with a jammed finger. Further imaging had revealed the fracture near his ring and pinkie fingers, according to Rogers’ reporting.
Counsell confirmed that diagnosis after Wednesday’s win over the Milwaukee Brewers,
