CHAPEL HILL — UNC football coach Bill Belichick is experiencing another change in his debut season with the Tar Heels .

Belichick , a 73-year-old coach with eight Super Bowl championships and nearly half a century in the NFL, is cranking up the contact in the preseason as he prepares for his first crack at coaching college football.

Unlike the NFL, where he spent 29 years as a head coach and had the benefit of more than 100 preseason games to prepare his teams, Belichick and the Tar Heels have to pump up the physicality and live contact in full-pad practices to evaluate the squad ahead of the season opener against TCU on Monday, Sept. 1 (8 p.m., ESPN).
