Fourth and Fifth streets south of Grand Avenue will be reverted to a two-lane one-way road south of Grand Avenue with no bike lane, similar to its configuration prior to a recent pilot project that altered the street designs over the last year.
The decision came in a close 4-3 vote on Wednesday night after around two hours of public comment and a contentious back and forth among the City Council members.
Following the public comments, which included many comments both in favor of the project and against — similar to those made at previous public meetings over the Fourth and Fifth streets — Council Member Ben Van Dyke made a motion to revert the street designs before several other council members had been given an opportunity to speak.
