SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) — The Scottsboro Police Department said one person was arrested following a traffic stop.
On August 20, SPD said officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 40 about a person with multiple active warrants with multiple different agencies.
SPD said during the stop, the passenger tried to get rid of a bag that was later found.
Inside, officers located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. The passenger, identified as Cash Vernon Smelley, 34, of Scottsboro, was taken into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle was identified and released at the scene.
Smelley was charged with the following: • Certain Persons Prohibited from Possessing a Firearm • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia •
