The White House is suspending public tours of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue indefinitely for the construction of the 90,000-square-foot ballroom President Donald Trump requested.

Construction on the $200 million ballroom is set to begin in September. The White House said Trump and private donors will cover the cost.

A White House official didn't say when public tours would resume, but said the suspension was temporary, NBC News reported .

People typically request White House tours through their representatives in Congress. Several members stated on their websites that White House tours were paused, NBC News reports.
