Woman pinned in late-night South Boston assault as police search for suspect

BOSTON, MA — A woman walking alone in South Boston early Sunday morning was pinned against a vehicle by an unknown man in a disturbing assault that has now triggered a citywide manhunt, according to Boston Police.

The incident happened around 2:00 AM on August 17 near the intersection of Telegraph Street and Old Harbor Street. Investigators say the victim was walking uphill on Telegraph Street when she noticed a man trailing her. After attempting to get her attention by shouting, the suspect rushed forward, pinned her against a car, and restrained her arms to prevent her from moving.

The woman screamed, which distracted the assailant just long enough for her to escape and flee to safety.
