The New York Yankees announced that they have signed right-handed pitcher Paul Blackburn to a Major League contract and added him to the active roster ahead of their four-game series with the Red Sox beginning Thursday night.
Blackburn, 31, has gone 0-3 with one save and a 6.85 ERA (23.2IP, 31H, 19R/18ER, 8BB, 18K, 3HR) in seven games (four starts) with the New York Mets this season. He was designated for assignment by the Mets on August 16 and released on August 19.
Over parts of nine Major League seasons with the Athletics (2017-24) and New York Mets (2024-25), Blackburn has gone 22-31 with one save and a 4.96 ERA (452.0IP, 501H, 259R/249ER, 140BB, 347K, 59HR) in 93 career games (86 starts). The right-handed pitcher was named an American League All-Star with the Athletics in 2022.
