With the registration of a new political party, Conservative candidates could be on ballots for local councils in several of B.C.’s biggest cities for next year’s municipal elections.

Elections B.C.’s newest list of registered political parties shows that the Conservatives have, as of this week, registered as a civic political party, to operate in 15 B.C. municipalities, including Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford, and Kelowna.

The municipal Conservative party was registered by David Denhoff, deputy director for the B.C. Conservatives, Elections B.C. records show. The B.C. Conservatives surged from less than two per cent of the vote in 2020 and not a single candidate elected, to electing 44 MLAs last year with 43 per cent of the vote and nearly forming government.
