BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that one of the two Plaquemine ferries is out of service until further notice due to mechanical issues.

The remaining ferry will run on a new schedule during repairs starting on Friday, Aug. 22.

Hours of operation will be: • Monday – Friday: 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. • Saturday – Sunday: 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

DOTD asks travelers to plan ahead and thanks the public for their patience during the service interruption.
